Beginner course: 4 classes. $100
Class 1: The first (of many, hopefully) sewing workshops run by The Old Fashioned Way. In 4 hours you'll learn the basics of using a sewing machine and go home with your very own handmade shopping/tote bag and handmade fabric flower.
Class 2: In this class You'll learn how to insert two types of zipper go home with your very own make-up bag/laptop case/wallet or anything you can think of to put a zipper in!)
Class 4-Introduction to pattern reading: Now you've begun making your own clothes you probably wont want to stop. In this workshop I'll teach you how to read a simple sewing patterns (patrons) and you'll make yourself a top/blouse with some more advanced techniques such as sleeves and darts.

Class 3: This workshop is the jump into clothes making! In this class you'll learn to make an elasticated waistband and put in pockets, resulting in either your own pair of cosy pjs or skirt.
After this you probably wont need me as you can pick up any pattern and transform it into a brand new outfit!
I also hold a variety of specialty classes and more advanced classes for those who have finished the beginner cycle.
6/12 week courses:
Coat Making: Prepare yourselves for the winter months by making yourselves a fully lined and fitted coat. Learn how to use fusible and hand tailoring methods to create a wearable and lasting coat. 6/12 weeks. $250
Pattern Drafting: A 10 week course in which you'll learn how to draft a pattern for a bodice, sleeve and skirt perfectly fitted to your own measurements. The course will finish with methods and techniques to customise your own patterns such as moving darts, changing necklines and adding design details. $200.
All classes, except the 12 week courses,include all fabrics/materials and homemade snacks.
Classes usually run on weekends from 10-2pm or 2-6pm or on weeknights from 6-8.30pm.
Private classes can be arranged for $20 an hour.
Short courses:
Dressmaking: Choose from a variety of simple dress patterns to make a dress in a day or over two evenings. Learn how to insert zippers, add pleats or gathers and perfect your sleeve technique. $80.
Sewing with stretchy stuff: This 3 week class teaches you how to cut and sew with jersey, t-shirt or any other kind of stretchy fabric. In this class we'll start with a basic t-shirt/top and then make something of your choice...dress, skirt, pants, up to you. $60.

Handbag making: A two day workshop in which you'll learn how to make a professional looking handbag/purse/man bag/holdall etc. Add metal fastenings and fancy closures for a bag which looks shop-bought.$65.
Refashioning and recycling: Give your old clothes a new life by refashioning them. In one day turn shirts into skirts, dresses into tops, add detail to boring clothes or simply men well-loved and worn out clothes. $35.
Trouser/shorts making: A 3 week course to teach you all the basics of making and fitting a pair of trousers. Learn how to add in-seam pockets and fly fronts for a unique pair of trousers or shorts. $65.
Tailoring a Shirt:A 4 week course to teach you all the skills needed to make a button down shirt. Add a collar, and cuffs and sew a perfect button placket. $95.
6/12 week courses:
The bombshell dress: A 6/12 week class which focuses on couture techniques to create a boned corset style dress. $250.
Suit tailoring: A 6/12 week course which focuses on hand and machine tailoring techniques to create a suit jacket/blazer.
